Hotel & Resort Reviews: Trinidad & Tobago
Rex Grenadian 11/26/01
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Report of Visit March 2001:

Well here I am back from The Rex Grenadian and I thought it was FABULOUS! Here is a quick summary:

1 HOTEL + GROUNDS - beautiful and very clean, gardens lovely.

2 FOOD - good, drinks even better. The view from Spicers and the poolside bar is second to none. We didn't bother with the Oriental as we were very happy with the International.

3 BEACHES - fabulous white sand and a lovely pale turquoise sea.

4 ROOMS - great, what a view from the beachfront (ours was 3107 on the ground floor, ten paces from the beach - also very near Traders Bar which was a big advantage!

5 LOCATION - quiet but not too far from St Georges and Great Anse and the airport is no problem as that is very near (if you didn't have luggage you could walk).

6 STAFF - excellent, very friendly and always smiling and the asking if you were OK.

7 ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE - more than worth it.

8 TRIPS - grenadines is a must, Osprey express to Carricou and then a sail across (we went to Petit St Vincent and caught the express back from Petit Martinique). Also a trip on Carib Cats either for a half or a full day cruise. All arranged by Sunsations at the hotel. The other trips we just caught taxis from the hotel.

9 JOURNEY - too long! BUT worth it.

We had a good look round the other hotels (went to the Calabash for drinks one day during a trip to Prickly Bay) and I can honestly say that I am so pleased we picked the Rex.

And here was the best thing, the hotel was so quiet, only half full. Out of the 28 rooms in our building only 8 were occupied during the first week, and about 15 the second week. You could also walk out to the beach at any time and there were loads of sunbeds and palmtrees for shade with no-one else there. Last year at the Rex Antigua if you weren't out there by 07:00 you were out of luck.

Well I think that's all, I am still dreaming of looking out from our patio and seeing that beautful view. We left England in snow and within an hour of being home were had a blizzard. I don't think the holiday brochures do the Rex justice as it far exceeded our expectations. Will definitely go back.

Janet
