Fort Young Hotel 1/10/00

I was in Dominica on a business trip June of 99 and stayed in Roseau at the Fort Young Hotel. They had recently completed an expansion with a new restaurant overlooking the harbor, a lot of new rooms and a group of shops. Their old restaurant in the old fort walls is still open and charming. Their lunch buffet - very busy with business people from town and also vacationers - was delicious. They had mostly local specialties - a good way to try a lot of new dishes.
My room was comfortable (it was one of the old ones). There's a pool in the courtyard, a bar where you can get fresh squeezed juices (passion-fruit, guava, etc., etc.) with or without rum!
Fort Young was a great place to come back to after a day of business in town, but I'm sure it would be just as great after a hard day of sight-seeing.
