Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I was at this resort from Aug 18-Sep 01, 2002 with my brother (im 24, he's 21) my review will focus on the activities for people my age Activities: the first week was a little more quiet since there weren't as many people my age that wanted to go out all the time. there were a lot of families at this time second week was a lot better. We went out almost every night and there was a lot of single people in our age category that did the same. The best place to go out is "La Rumba" It is always packed with tourists mostly and there is some english music (starts later at night though). The entertainment staff will try to get you to go to other venues, but the only ones i consider worth going are Pirates cave (its inside an actual cave!). Everything else is just part of the Cuban entertainer's scam because if they bring you.. they get in for free. One word of caution. Dont let them get away with price gouging for taxi fares. trip to la rumba is $3 .. no more.. they will try to ask for more, but if you walk up to a taxi and say $3 instead of asking how much, they will do it. (with 5 people .. thats about $1/person for both ways) they had a bus going too.. but it was $3 / person.. so you can see what i mean (as far as scams are concerned) During the day there was always something to do. Beach volleyball 2x / day (11 and 2:30), aquagym, boceball, beach soccer. The only downside was ... no waterpolo or pool volleyball Food: definitely edible. I actually gained some weight on vacation. i didn't see any reason to be concerned or worry about getting sick. And... i have a weak stomach Beach: Amazing, clear, no corals..but too many jellyfish. Im sure Bill Cosby at times would have been proud to see me swimming in so much jello. But at least.. they dont sting I would definitely go back again next summer and would recommend it to my friends.
