Occidental Allegro 01/26/2004

We spent last week at the Allegro resort on Cozumel. Here are what I consider the highs, lows and mediums of what was a satisfying week. In terms of highs, the buildings and landscaping are really nice...we loved strolling the wonderful path from the lobby to the beach, especially at night. The food was okay and about what we expect at an all-inclusive. Make sure to take advantage of the two special restaurant meals that you can eat at on the property (and which are included in the price). The food there is definitely better.
What excited me about this resort before we went were the beach reviews. Unfortunately, I had an accident in San Miguel our first full day on the island, resulting in some significant facial abrasions and an overnight stay at the hospital. This kept me out of the water, which, in my opinion, takes away one of the best features of Cozumel.
I would recommend Allegro to other travellers. I saw several families with older kids who seemed to be enjoying the mix of activity and privacy available there.
